Karl is the Chief Information Security Officer for Healthcare at Sirius. Sirius Healthcare is dedicated to providing IT solutions specific to the healthcare industry’s unique needs and requirements. Formerly Chief Information Security Officer at Intermountain Healthcare, Karl has been a leader and influencer in healthcare security for over 24 years. Nationally recognized for his work at Intermountain, Karl is highly sought after for his Security expertise, speaking and consulting for numerous organizations and engagements across the country.
As a first responder, Karl is personally involved in the delivery of patient care and has a deep understanding and appreciation of healthcare technology needs. He sits on numerous boards including the Health Information Sharing and Analysis Center, the Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security, and CHIME. He also spends a good amount of time in Washington DC advising senate and house committees on regulatory and legal concerns around healthcare and security.
With experience and expertise in strategic planning, risk management, governance, security architecture and design, data inventory, IAM, legal discovery, threat and vulnerability, and critical incident management, Karl helps Sirius’ clients design and implement best cyber security practices and architectures that fit their specific needs.
John Kirkman, Vice President, Crowdstrike Healthcare
John Kirkman has over 20 years of experience in the technology industry, having spent the last 10 years focused specifically on cybersecurity. In his role as VP of Healthcare, John is responsible for spearheading CrowdStrike’s go to market strategy for the Healthcare vertical, curating the direct sales team, developing both direct and indirect routes to market via strategic channel and technology partnerships. Throughout his career, John has established himself as an authentic and passionate leader who truly cares about his team and his customers.
Prior to launching CrowdStrike Healthcare 3 years ago, John spent 7 years building the Healthcare vertical at McAfee. To meet the needs of his segment, he led the development of McAfee’s MSSP business in addition to new licensing models and service offerings. Prior to his time at McAfee, John held roles at IBM and Oracle growing the Healthcare and Life-Sciences segments.
Combining deep understanding of the healthcare vertical and current market trends, his team has solved some of the most complex challenges facing Healthcare today.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business from San Diego State University. He resides in Alamo, CA with his wife and two children. On any given weekend you will likely find John and his family on the slopes, or on the lake in Tahoe.
